The new permanent exhibition "Stories of Humanity" was opened at the Cultural Center “Jules Pascin”. The event took place on December 15, and the project was implemented in partnership between the Municipality of Vidin, the Municipal Cultural Institute "Danube" and the "America for Bulgaria" Foundation, with the contractor being the architectural studio "Atelier 3".
The exhibition was officially opened by the director of the MCI "Danube" Yuliana Dimitrova. "The exhibition presents two different, but complementary stories," she said at the opening. Dimitrova thanked all institutions that contributed to the implementation of the project and emphasized the importance of the topic of tolerance as a characteristic value for the city.
Borislava Borisova, Deputy Mayor of Vidin Municipality for Humanitarian Activities and Social Policy, also expressed gratitude to the creators of the exhibition. According to her, such cultural initiatives play an important role in the development of the city. “We present stories of good relationships, stories of understanding, stories of humanity,” she said.
Greetings were delivered by the Executive Director of the America for Bulgaria Foundation, Desislava Talyokova, and the Program Director of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology at the Foundation, Nadya Zaharieva. "Today, more than ever, we need to rely on healthy values - humanity, justice, honesty and respect for everyone," said Zaharieva, adding that the exhibition is an invitation to visitors to encounter these values through two different but related stories.
After the official part, visitors had the opportunity to view the exhibition, which is structured in two main parts. The first is a library space with a modern and functional design, located in the Jewish community room. It exhibits paintings and drawings by the artist Jules Pascin, donated by Eleonora Tsvetkova and Tsvetomir Todorov, as well as old books provided by the State Archives. The second part is located in the exhibition halls on the second floor, where visitors are transported to the past through two storylines – stories from the life of the Jewish community in Vidin and stories about the life and work of the artist Jules Pascin.
Architect Donika Georgieva presented the concept of the exhibition layout, built around two long tables. According to her, the table is a place for meeting and sharing, which symbolically unites the different stories presented in the exhibition. The permanent exhibition "Stories of Humanity" presents part of Vidin's past through modern interactive approaches and accessible stories about coexistence and understanding between people. A visit to it provides an opportunity to encounter the city's memory and the individuals and communities that have left a lasting mark on its cultural heritage.
Come and explore the exhibition and be transported to a part of Vidin's history.
